Churachandpur, April 10 2015 :
The first Security Public Leaders' Interface hosted by the district police at Lamka witnessed a resounding appeal for tolerance and a call for the security forces to respect the ethos and traditions of the local people.
Underlining the need for tolerance, Deputy Commissioner Lunminthang Haokip in his address during the interface said that the minds of the people are still 'partitioned'.
He stressed on the need to effectively check such veiled threat on peace and unity of the people.
Brigadier RK Sharma, Commander 27 Sector AR, during his speech conveyed the Army's commitment towards ensuring a peaceful, secure and tolerant environment.
Lauding the initiative, Sharma said that silence and non-communication could elevate suspicion and widen the disparity between the security forces and public.
The Brigadier, while offering apology for all the excesses committed by the forces said the Army favours discussion for resolution in cases of conflict rather than creating one.
The three-hour long session was moderated by Balram Singh, Deputy SP, Churachandpur.
