IGNTUSU-RCM reiterates demand for removal of Addl SP

Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Students' Union, Regional Campus Manipur (IGNTUSU-RCM) on Friday submitted a memorandum to Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who is also Home Minister of the State through Deputy Commissioner, Senapati for immediate removal and suspension of Additional SP, Kangpokpi.
The memorandum signed by IGNTUSU-RCM President K Bowang Kho and General Secretary ST Lelen Vaiphei submitted the memorandum to Senapati Deputy Commissioner Jacintha Lazarus.
The memorandum alleged that on April 6 when the students of IGNTU-RCM visited the main campus at Makhan as part of their ongoing agitation under the banner "Save IGNTU-RCM" Additional SP of Kangpokpi Md.Zakiruddin came in civil dress and physically assaulted the finance secretary and information secretary of the students union without any valid reason.
IGNTUSU-RCM further alleged that Additional SP also made "offensive and insulting remarks" and said such derogatory remark was against the whole tribal student community and the tribal people in general.
In connection with the same incident, Kuki Students' Organization (GHQ) and Senapati District Students' Association held a joint meeting on Friday in Senapati.
The joint meeting which was also participated by KSO Sadar Hills condemned the "malevolent manner" of the Additional SP towards the student leaders.
