Dy CM's promise for five newly created sub-divisions

The Govt will soon make the newly created five subdivisions of the hill district functional.
And the headquarters for Thangting subdivision of Churachandpur district will be stationed at the most suitable location based on popular consent of the people concerned.
This was stated by Dy CM Gaikhangam while attending the first Thangting subdivision cultural festival today at Khousabung DCC headquarters, CCpur district organised by Khousabung Area Youth Development Forum.
Gaikhangam said that the newly created five subdivisions of the State would be functional soon.
He said the headquarters for these subdivisions would be kept at the most suitable locations.
The Dy CM also urged the people to contribute their might for the betterment and development of the State.
Thangting subdivision is among the five new subdivisions which were approved by the State Cabinet in August last year.
Around 125 villages inhabited by various tribal ethnic communities like the Aimol, Chiru, Chothe, Gangte, Kom, Rongmei, Thadou and Vaiphei are covered by the subdivision.
Speaking as the guest of honour of the function, Henglep AC MLA and MTDC Chairman, T Manga Vaiphei said that the new subdivisions were created as per a Cabinet decision and hence the respective subdivisional headquarters would also be decided by the Cabinet.
He also urged the youth of the area to play a pivotal role in bringing peace and development through culture.
At the same time, the Thangting Area Chiefs' Association, Part I&II, Leimata Area Chief Association and Kom Keirap TD Block Demand Committee have handed a joint memorandum to the Dy CM demanding that the Thangting subdivisional headquarters be stationed at Khousabung and opening the same at the earliest.
The bodies said that 100 among 125 village chiefs have given their consent and favour the stationing of Thangting subdivision headquarters at Khousabung village.
Village chiefs of the area, social activists, civil society organisations' leaders and different students leaders attended the cultural festival held with the theme, 'Peace through Culture' .
Presentation of cultural items from cultural troupes of various communities was the main highlights of the programme.
