3rd Kwatha festival opened

The 3rd Kwatha Festival was opened today by N Rajendro which was jointly organized by Roots for Freedom and Kwatha Youth Club on the theme "Natural Beauty" .
The inaugural function was attended by Nongthombam Rajendro former President ICHAM as chief guest, Kamal Ningthouja village chief as functional president while Thangjam Aran Proprietor Arun Enterprise attended the function as guest of honour.
Speaking at the occasion, N Rajendro said that the festival was organized to promote bamboo soot (Soibum) of Kwatha, heiribop and other forest products and urged the visitors to support the cause.
He stressed that, "We should strive to produce more vegetables and other eatables items for self sustenance, rather than depending on food imported from outside the State" .
The present Govt had already conducted a survey through BADP to build a ring road to connect Moreh and Z Zoro, border area he informed and sought full cooperation from the public to complete the road construction on time which will reduce the border area dispute considerably.
Regarding the festival, SP Tengnoupal Dr S Ibomcha appealed the visitors to follow and adhere to the instructions and guidelines to avoid any unwanted incidents.
The opening function was also attended by SP Tengnoupal District Dr S Ibomcha Singh, Additional SP Moreh K Robinsun, CSOs leaders of Moreh and other officers of Tengnoupal District Police.
Traditional dance, cultural songs and Thang-ta performances were presented during the opening ceremony while many stalls were opened to sell many items produce in Kwatha including Soibum, heiribop and other forest products.
