Imphal, February 02 2021:
The 'Union Budget' tabled by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will only add burden to the already suffering underprivileged group.
Manipur State Council Communist Party of India (MSC CPI) said this in a statement issued today and alleged that the Government is not putting welfare of the underprivileged in the forefront.
MSC CPI said in the statement that the appeal by Government to excuse the falling economy citing that COVID-19 had worsened the economy, cannot be entertained as the budget allocation for tackling the pandemic is not enough.
The party also questioned whether any public has been vaccinated despite the Government saying the vaccination will be free of cost.
The unemployment rate has been increasing, poverty stricken farmers are committing suicide, the rich-poor gap is widening and even in the face of such conditions, the plan of the budget to privatise railways, airports, Sainik schools, banks and factories, is in fact modelled for the betterment of the richer sections of the society, alleged MSC CPI in the statement.
Nirmala Sitharaman didn't even mention MGNREGA which meant the demand by CPI to increase the number of working days to 200 during the pandemic has fallen on deaf ears, added the statement.
The price of petroleum products in neighbouring countries are all below the Rs 60 per litre except in India where it has gone beyond Rs 80.This is not a sign of 'Good Governance Budgeting', alleged MSC CPI in the statement.
