PCC top Group A with third win on trot; SDC, KIYC taste first victories

PCC, Mayai Koibi remained on top of Group A table with three of three wins so far in the 5th MNCA Plate Tournament 2019-20 .
Having beaten UCC, Uripok and TCMDC, Thongju in the earlier fixtures, the Mayai Koibi team secured the third win today by beating IBSA, Yumnam Leikai by 64 runs at Model Higher Secondary and Oriental College playground.
PCC chose to bat first after winning the toss and piled up a huge total of 245 for' 5 in 40 overs and bowlers played their part sensibly to hold IBSA at 181 for 9 in 40 overs.
Though the initial overs proved hard, half centuries by Ranjan (78 off 75 balls) and Jobanta (63 off 70 balls) in addition to Gibson's 41 run knock helped PCC give IBSA a target of 246 runs.
IBSA's Gopal scalped two wickets for 56 runs in 8 overs as Bablu, Dilbaksh and Surjit managed a wicket each before they faced a stiff resistance in the chase.
Bablu with 70-ball 61 and Rajababu who scored 37 runs off 61 balls were the only two significant contributors for IBSA in the chase as PCC bowlers maintained an exceptionally good economy.
PCC's Ranjan and Anand shared two wickets each as Dipu and Santosh claimed a wicket each.
Ranjan who produced an all round performance was named man of the match.
SDC, Laipham Khunou and KIYC, Kshetrigao were able to secure their first wins in other group league matches staged today.
In the Group D League match played at Moijing Playground, SDC got the better of NAPSA, Kha Imphal by 30 runs.
SDC, after winning the toss, piled up 179 all out in 34.5 overs (off 40 overs) riding on late knocks by Deepak Shah (39) and Kajalkumar (22 not out) after Monish (22) and Lemba (21) took charge of the middle order batting.
SDC then forced NAPSA to bundle out on 149 in 31.4 overs (35 overs) despite Boney's 39 and Dhanakuber's 44 as Shahni of SDC enjoyed a four wicket haul.
SDC's Henry, Kajalkumar also picked up two wickets each and Vishal had a wicket.
SDC with one win in two matches are now third in Group D standings with 2 points and 0.272 NRR.
ESU, Wangkhei Palace Compound are leading the group with 4 points from two of two wins and with 4.604 NRR (Net Run Rate) followed by KASC, Khomidok (4 pts; 0.353 NRR).
Deepak Shah who managed a hat-trick on his way to four wicket haul and had 39 runs in his name was named man of the match.
Elsewhere, in the Group B league match staged at Langthabal Public Ground, KIYC who had lost the first two matches, registered a 2 wicket win against YWC (Patsoi).
YWC, electing to bat first, gathered 114 all out in 24 overs (35 overs) but KIYC chased down the target in 24.1 overs with two wickets left in the hand.
Ashish (33) and Rocket (18) showed their grit in YWC's innings which saw SM Abdul Rahim picked up three wickets for 18 runs in 4 overs.
Exerting pressure on YWC batsmen, Md Baqee, Shahir Ahmed and Md Abdullah also took two wickets each.
Meanwhile, Farhad (20), Md Kurban Khan (21) and SM Adbul Rahul (21) then guided KIYC to 115 for 8 in 24.1 overs despite Khedabarth spinning web around the batsmen en route to his four wicket haul.
Thoungamba and Chumthang also earned two wickets each in this innings in a losing cause.
SM Abdur Rahim of KIYC who shone with both the bat and ball was adjudged man of the match.
With the win, KIYC are fourth in Group standing as CRAU, Khamnam Bazar stayed atop with two of two wins.
