Chandel, August 01 2017:
A three days capacity building programme on ‘Improved production Technology of pineapple’ under Integrated Horticulture including Fisheries for NEH Region in India, an NEC funded project began today at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Chandel’s training hall at Mongsangpantha village, Chandel .
A press release issued today by the senior scientist and head of KVK, Chandel, stated that the programme was organised by KVK Chandel in collaboration with ICAR, Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre .
The DC, Chandel, Krishna Kumar, District Horticulture Officer, Chandel, Keisham Brojen and Joint Director of ICAR, RC for NEH Region Manipur Centre, Dr N Prakash attended the event as the chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively .
Speaking at the event, Krishna Kumar encouraged the farmers to improve the production and cultivation of pineapple in the district and assured that the bottleneck faced by the farmers with regards to transportation and electricity will be solved rapidly .
He pointed out that aside from inaugurating power sub station at Chandel recently, the State Government will inaugurate two more at Joupi and Sugnu very soon and added that the district administration will offer every possible support to the farmers .
A technical session was also conducted as a part of the event with Keisham Brojen, Dr Ch Premabati Devi (Horticulture scientist, ICAR, Manipur Centre) and Dr Y Prabhabati Devi (ACTO, Home Science, KVK, Chandel) as the resource persons on the topic, ‘Improved production technology of pineapple’ .
Around 50 farmers and staff of KVK Chandel also attended the event, it added.
