Imphal, August 01 2017:
Informing that three iron and steel laden trucks detained by Nagaland Police at Khuzuma have been allowed to proceed, Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar has stated that the State Government would take up the matter with the Government of Nagaland so that such incidents do not occur in future .
Of the three Imphal-bound trucks, two did not have insurance papers while the other did not possess road permit .
But it was unreasonable to detain the trucks for such a long period for not carrying road permit and insurance papers .
Soon after receiving a report of the detention, the State DGP took up the matter with his Nagaland counterpart.
Subsequently, the trucks were freed today and they were heading toward Imphal .
Even though the trucks were carrying iron and steel, they should be transporting some other goods as per their travel documents but the listed goods were missing.
Police would soon verify the matter, Joykumar said .
As GST has been already enforced, they should have GST invoice.
If Nagaland Police detained the trucks when they were transporting iron and steel with GST documents, the matter would be apprised to the Nagaland Finance Minister during GST Council meeting scheduled on August 5 .
The Deputy Chief Minister who is also in charge of Finance Department was responding to a call attention motion raised by Kh Joykisan .
Joykisan said that the trucks were detained since July 28 and the drivers were lodged in lock-up.
