Imphal, August 12, 2013:
Taking part by around 160 delegates from different North East States, a seven-day North East Zonal Congress Seva Dal training camp has kick started at Mantripukhri Retreat House from today.
Inaugurating the camp, Deputy Chief Minister and MPCC President Gaikhangam said that the North East region is plagued by bandhs and blockades.
Saying that bandhs and blockades give only hardships to the general public, he said that Congress Seva Dals would be given awareness on the impact of bandh and general strike during the camp.
The Seva Dals would then educate the people of their respective localities and State, he added.
Gaikhangam further said that measures to check harassment meted out to Congress political workers during elections in the States, which have non-Congress Government, would also be deliberated during the camp.
Maintaining that Seva Dals are playing significant roles in Congress party organisation, Gaikhangam urged them to have better coordination among Seva Dals to strengthen Congress in their respective States.
Around 160 delegates from Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh are taking part in the camp.
MPCC Vice-President T Mangibabu, NYK Vice President and Congress leaders and workers also attended the function.
