Minister assures permanent NIT-M complex by Dec

Education Minister M Okendro has announced that the construction of permanent complex of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Manipur at Langol would be completed by December this year.
He was speaking as Chief Guest of the 3rd foundation day of NIT-Manipur held at its temporary complex at Government Polytechnic, Takyel here today.
Minister Okendro said that the Engineering Cell of Education Department is working 24X7 to complete the construction of permanent complex of NIT-Manipur.
The problems faced by the students would be solved with the completion of this complex, he noted.
Though new as compared to NITs of other states, NIT-Manipur has been able to impart various job-oriented short term courses in export and import trade, foreign exchange management, tourism and hospitality to the students besides regular technical course.
Moreover, the Board of Governors of NIT-Manipur has also approved setting up of an Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) Study Centre at the Institute, the Education Minister disclosed.
He further maintained that NIT-Manipur would play an important role to uplift the education sector of the State in the backdrop of Look East Policy of Indian Government.
The Institute would be developed to attract students from Southeast Asian countries such as Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.
Minister Okendro also wished the students for a successful and bright career in their future life.
Attending as Guest of Honour, former Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University Prof C Amuba said that NIT-Manipur is the newest of all 30 NITs in the country.
It needs proper infrastructural development in order to bring up at the level of other premier institutes.
The foundation day was also attended by Director of NIT-Manipur Dr S Birendra, Controller of Technical Education Kh Rajchandra, and member of Board of Governors of NIT-Manipur Kh Devabrata.
Prizes and certificates were also distributed to the meritorious students of the Institute.
