Pangal Students Union, Dhanamanjuri University denounced the anomalies in the selection list for admission in GP Women's College which is under DM University for the session 2021-22.The Students Union in a press release expressed discontent that there have been many errors in the selection list for the past academic sessions for DM University ever since its existence in 2018.The Union enlisted the anomalies in the declared selection list as follows - The list for only 888 students has been declared out of the total 900 prescribed intake capacity for GP Women's College, the inclusion of other communities in OBC Meitei Pangal Category thereby creating confusions and the selection of a male candidate in the women's college.
In view of the mentioned anomalies, the Pangal Students Union, DM University urged the authorities concerned to declare a cumulative applicant list at the earliest and to publish a revised selection list of GP Women College after rectifying the errors.
The student body further warned that stringent forms of agitation will be staged if the above demands are not fulfilled within two days.
Voicing the same demands, the All Manipur Muslim Students Organisation (AMMSO) in a separate statement appealed to the Government to fulfil their long pending demand for implementation of 4 percent reservation for Muslim students in higher education.
AMMSO also denounced the selection of only 16 Meitei Pangal students out of the 900 intake capacity of GP Women College which is against the welfare of Meitei Pangal students in the State.
If the 4 percent reservation in higher education for Meitei Pangal students is not implemented from the ongoing academic session 2021-22, the student body warned of stringent democratic protest incoordination with other stake holders in the State.
AMMSO also sought the support and cooperation of the public towards the cause.
