AR organises football tournament at Panikheti village

Imphal, September 01 2021:
As part of Swarnim Vijay Varsha, a football tournament 2021 organised by 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sect AR/IGAR(East) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of India's victory over Pakistan in 1971 war got underway on Wednesday at Panikheti village, Kangpokpi district.
The tournament being organised in collaboration with AGMSU, Irang Part II unit, has 14 teams and the final match will take place on September 6 .
The AR has prepared the playground and provided sports equipment required for the conduct of the tournament.
The winners will take away a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and a trophy whereas runners-up will get Rs 10,000 .
Golden boot winner and best player will receive Rs 2,500 each, said a press release from PIB (Defence Wing) .
The AR commandant also inaugurated a six-day mega medical camp on the sidelines of the sports tournament for the local populace in collaboration with district medical authority of Kangpokpi district.
The unit doctors along with Dr Mohd Arif from PHC T Waichong shall be checking up patients and distribute free general medicines at the venue itself.
The commandant 44 Assam Rifles along with KhargaTamang, member Manipur State Minorities Commission inaugurated the tournament.
All Covid protocols and CAB were strictly followed during the conduct of the tournament.
