Imphal, September 01 2021:
Communist Party of India-Manipur State Council (CPI-MSC) observed the 125th Birth Anniversary of Jananeta Irawat at Irawat Bhawan Complex here on Wednesday.
The observance was attended by CPI Manipur State Council secretary L Sotinkumar, National Executive Member Dr M Nara, Manipur Loumee Lup president N Singhajit, All Manipur Agriculture Workers' Union president S Nillakamal and CPI (M) state secretary Ksh Shanta as presidium members.
According to a statement issued by CPI-MSC assistant secretary M Joykumar, during the observance, L Sotinkumar recounted about the vision of Irawat for an egalitarian and independent Manipur, along with highlighting efforts of Irawat to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur.
He then called upon the party members to take a more proactive role in this regard, while further stressing the need to bring about a free and fair election, devoid of muscle or money power.
In his speech, Dr N Nara questioned why the agriculture minister is unable to provide adequate urea to the farmers despite assurances of adequate availability.
At present, a bag of urea is being sold at Rs 1200, which has rendered many farmers helpless.
However, the state government is yet to address the problem, which is embarrassing.
As such, it is of utmost importance to ensure the upcoming election is held in a free and fair manner, he added.
