Bridges, Luwangpokpa pavilion inaugurated

Chief Minister N Biren Singh has on Wednesday inaugurated two bridges and the southern pavilion of Luwangpokpa Multi Sports Complex, Luwangsangbam in Imphal East district.
The bridges were constructed over the Imphal River at Lairikyengbam Leikai-Heikrumakhong and Keisham Mapa-Kairang in Heingang AC under the PMGSY scheme.
Construction of both the bridges began in March 2019 .
The southern pavilion of Luwangpokpa Multi-sports Complex, on the other hand, was constructed with NLCPR funds of DoNER Ministry (NLCPR) with the State Water Resources Department as the implementing agency.
Works Minister Th Biswajit, YAS Minister Letpao Haokip, Education Minister S Rajen, Agriculture Minister O Lukhoi, CAF and PD Minister Th Satyabrata, Deputy Speaker K Robindro, Manipur Buildings and Other Construction Workers' Board Chairman H Dingo, Advisor to CM (Health) Dr S Ranjan, Imphal East Adhyaksha P Bimola and Manipur Development Society Chairman M Asnikumar attended the inauguration function organised by the State Youth Affairs and Sports Department at Luwangpokpa Multi Sports Complex.

Addressing the gathering, N Biren Singh said that there is still enough space for further expansion and development of the complex.
The Chief Minister said that development of the complex began with just Rs 1.40 crore.
He also mentioned the development of various sports infrastructures in different parts of the State in the past four and half years by the present Government and stressed the need for prioritizing sports disciplines which are suitable to the physique of the State natives.
The Chief Minister also mentioned the need to create suitable posts to look after and maintain the stadiums located in different parts of the State.
Stating that health infrastructure had seen a huge progress in the recent past, N Biren Singh stated that the State is fully prepared to handle the third wave of Covid.
He said that the State has enough oxygen plants, hospital beds, manpower and equipment.
The Chief Minister further said that the 200-bedded Covid hospital developed by DRDO is ready for inauguration.
He also announced that Rs 20 lakh would be awarded to Jiribam for becoming the first district which vaccinated 100 per cent of its adult population (1st dose).
Regarding distribution of fertilizer, the Chief Minister assured that all the eligible farmers would definitely get their share of fertilizer soon.
Speaking at the occasion, Th Biswajit Singh said that the younger generation inherited sports culture from the visionary forefathers, who preserved local grounds.
"Today, we are able to dedicate this large playground to our youth due to the vision of our forefathers who preserved the ground", he continued.
Highlighting that the biggest achievement of the present Government is peace, he added that there would be development only when there is peace and harmony in the State.
Stating that the State has witnessed development under the present Government, he said that rail connectivity has already reached the State and once the rail-head reaches Imphal, the State would become the gateway of the country to ASEAN countries under the Act East Policy.
Addressing the gathering, YAS Minister Letpao Haokip announced that floodlights would be installed at the complex soon.
He added that having such a sports-loving leader makes the functioning of the Sports Department easier and more productive.
