Reasons of low charge sheet of women related cases by Police Stations discussed

An interactive meeting was convened today at the conference hall of the SP, Imphal West to discuss the reasons of low charge sheet of women related cases by Police Stations.
The meeting was attended by Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) and SPs of all districts of Manipur and it was presided by Prof Binota Meinam, Chaiperson of MSCW along with two members of the Commission, said a press release by MSCW.
During the meeting, the Chairperson inquired the Police Department for low percentage in charge sheeting women related cases in the State and the difficulties faced by the Police while dealing a case.

The SPs suggested that Forensic Laboratory, Pangei should be strengthened with infrastructure such as DNA Profiling System for meeting the present needs and also expressed the need to increase the women officers for dealing women related cases.
Prof Binota Meinam stated that she would request the State Govt to open Women Police Station in the newly created seven districts and for Tamenglong district.
She also appreciated the cooperation given by the Police Department to the Commission specially while dealing cases in the Commission.
Further she appealed to all the SPs to work tirelessly with dedication for the cause of women in the State.
