Imphal, September 01 2021:
The 125th birth anniversary month celebration of Jananeta Hijam Irabot was kicked off at Irawat Bhawan today.
Members of Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council (CPI MSC) were led by L Sotinkumar (president CPI MSC), Dr M Nara (National executive member) and other leaders of the party in paying floral tribute to statue of Jananeta Hijam Irabot, said a statement issued by CPI MSC today.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, H Ibobi, secretary Loumee Lup deliberated on the various problems faced by the farmers currently including unavailability of fertilizer and poor irrigation facilities which is forcing farmers to rely strictly on monsoon for farm activities.
Dr M Nara alleged that the Agriculture Minister is engaged in making false assurance that there is enough fertilizer but what will the farmers do with the fertilizer when they are supplied after the time when it is most required on the fields.
He added that fertilizers are made available on the black market at Rs 1200 per bag which is about 6 times the price fixed by the Government.
He said the Government should work towards solving such problems.
He also appealed to the public to elect representatives in a free and fair manner and not heed to money and muscle powers in order to form a Government which cares for the people.
Tentha Makha Leikai Youth Development Organisation (TMYDO) also inaugurated 125th birth anniversary month celebration of Jananeta Hijam Irabot today at Tentha Khunjao Makha Leikai while Jana Neta Irawat Memorial Trust (JIMET) also launched month long celebration of birth anniversary of Hijam Irabot today at Babupara in Jiribam.
