TNAL, TYDF urge declaration of certain Ukhrul roads as National Highways

Imphal, October 25 2017:
A joint delegation of Tangkhul Naga Aze Longphang (TNAL), Tribal Youth Development Foundation (TYDF) and Phungyar constituency BJP Mandal met Chief Minister N Biren, on October 24, to appraise the urgent needs of declaring Ramva (Lambui) NH-202 to Chongdan junction NH 102A, with an approximate length of 65 kms via Shokvao, Lungphu, Shingta, Shingkap, T Hungdung, as National Highways .
A joint press release issued by TNAL president, Shomi Angkang and Chairman of Tribal Youth Development Foundation, Lakpachui Siro stated that the delegation has submitted a proposal letter to take up the matter as a priority programme .
The delegation argued that the proposed stretches have enormous economic potential as this would directly connect Moreh international trading centre to Ukhrul District Headquarters and would also provide alternative international trade route, connecting Kohima and beyond via Ukhrul, Talloi and Tadubi road .
The delegation expressed gratitude to N Biren Singh for assuring the delegates that the proposal will be discussed with the Ministry of Road, Transports and National Highways, to include it in the new list of National Highways, it stated .
He also assured to upgrade the proposed roads which area vital trade routes cutting through the heart of Ukhrul district, it added.
