Training cum input injection programme

ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre organised a one day training cum input injection programme on "Promotion of improved technology of pulses production under conservation agriculture in rice-fallow system" at Kumbi , Bishnupur district today .
The programme was attended by Dr N Prakash, Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya and Dr I Meghachandra Singh, Joint Director In-charge, ICAR Manipur Centre as chief guest and president, respectively .
Dr Prakash in his address explained why lentil cultivation as a new venture in North East hill states is being taken up in Manipur .
He stated that it would not only raise the farmers' income but also improve the soil fertility .
Dr Meghachandra appealed to the farmers to provide mobile number for getting SMS regarding weather based forecasting for better crop management .
During the programme, ICAR, Manipur Centre distributed quality seeds of Pea (250 kg) Lentil (350 kg), Rape Seed Mustard M-27 (100 kg) and biofertilizers (Rhizobium and PSB) .
65 farmers from Kumbi and nearby areas attended the programme with enthusiasm to learn the new technology in the form of zero tillage cultivation after rice harvesting .
