DM Thoubal, Haobam Rosita issued a prohibitory order under sub-section 2 of section 144 CrPC, prohibiting assembly of 5(five) or more persons which are likely to create law and order problem in Thoubal district to ensure that no untoward/unwanted incidents occur during the conduct of the upcoming 17th Lok Sabha election 2019 and also prohibited/banned carrying of sticks, stones, licensed arms, firearms, weapons and other explosive materials including fire-crackers with immediate effect from 6 pm of March 11, 2019 and until further orders, informed a statement released by DM, Thoubal.
However, the prohibitory order will not be applicable to agencies of Government involved in the enforcement of law & order and in the maintenance of essential service, it added.
Meanwhile, in order to ensure for smooth conduct of upcoming 17th Lok Sabha election, DC CCpur also issued a probitory order within the whole of Churachandpur district under Section 144(2) of Code of Criminal Procedure, prohibiting assembly of five(5) or more persons sloganeering, rallying, demonstrating, shouting, conducting dharna; carrying of swords, sticks, or other sharp edged articles which may be used to cause harm; carrying of any firearms and other lethal weapons, without the prior consent of the competent authority, with immediate effect and will remain in force till the completion of the election process, informed an order issued by DM CCpur.
However, the said prohibitory order will not be applicable to Govt officials/security personnel on duty, it added.
