Residential school inaugurated

A residential school constructed anew under SSA at Heinoukhong under Machi Block, Chandel district was inaugurated yesterday by Education Minister M Okendro and Tengnoupal A/C MLA D Korungthang.
The residential school was constructed since June 15 last year and it should be completed by June 14 this year.
But the construction work was completed on June 2 well within the stipulated period.
The residential school has intake capacity of 50 boy students and 50 girl students.
Counting three students recommended by the concerned village authority, there are 103 students in the school.
Speaking at the inaugural function, M Okendro expressed satisfaction over completion of the school building construction work within the stipulated period.
He claimed that the Government has been working to construct quarters for teachers and upgrade the school up to the level of class X .
The school would benefit children of Heinoukhong village as well as surrounding villages like Thamlai, Waba Ching, Heinoulamlang etc.
Hailing close and frequent interaction between villagers Heinoukhong and surrounding villages and Heirok, Okendro asserted all communities of the State should always remember that they share a common genealogy.
The incumbent Government led by Chief Minister has been paying extra attention towards development of the hill districts, Okendro added.
In his presidential speech, MLA D Korungthang called upon the local villagers, village authority and local leaders to look after the residential school.
Singhat A/C MLA GS Haopu, Education (S) Director H Dilip and many other high ranking officials were also present at the inaugural function.
