Successful Muslim students feted

The Pangal Students' Organisation, Manipur and Minority Muslim Private English Schools' Association, Manipur have felicitated successful students of minority Manipuri Muslims including Yumkhaibam Sabir, (244th position holder in UPSC exam, and Md Ismat, topper of AISSCE 2012 today at Islamic English School, Hangamthabi, Lilong.
The felicitation was graced by former Chairman of Minority Commission, Manipur Md Abdul Helim Choudhury; Director of IBSD, Takyelpat, Dr NC Talukdar; social activist, Dhanabir Laishram; chief advisor of PSO, Manipur, Md Hayatur Rahman; chief editor of ISTV News, Yumnam Rupachandra; Principal of Lilong Haoreibi College, Md Khalilul Rahman and Advisor of MIMPESA, Md Islamud-din as the presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Dhanabir Laishram said the State could have excelled much more if the doctors, engineers and teachers of the State pay more attention to their duties.
He also urged the parents to act as role models to their children.
He said that schools should serve as factory of responsible citizens while adding that teachers are engineers whom should frame the mind-sets of students.
Dwelling on ways and means to bring in quality education in the State, Yumnam Rupachandra said a good school is one that moulds and shapes ordinary students into a responsible citizens.
AMUCO President, KT Rehman also attended the function.
Achievers of Muslim students in various exams including UPSC's civil services, HSLC, HSSLC, NDA etc were feted on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the ICHAM has also felicitated successful candidates from the hill districts today at TRI auditorium, Chingmeirong.
