Children explore talent at cultural meet

A children's cultural Meet on the theme 'Stop Crime Against Children, Ensure a Secured Environment to every Child' has been organised today by Manipur Alliance for Child Rights at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace compound.
Student artistes/troupes showcased the rich cultural diversity of different communities settled in the State, besides martial art performances and staging plays based on the event theme.
Speaking as the chief guest of the festival held under the sponsorship of Kolkata-based Child Rights and You, Education (S) director Wangkheimayum Rajen Singh opined that such a festival is not only an occasion for the young children to rejoice and mingle with one another but will also enable them to get familiar with the cultural diversity of Manipur.
Lamenting that some section of the teacher community lack commitment and dedication in enlightening the students, the Director strongly advised all the teachers to ensure that their service benefit the future pillar of the society.

Social Welfare Department Director G Satyabati Devi in her brief address conveyed that the Government of India's Integrated Child Protection Scheme envisions all round development of the child.
She informed that efforts are on to train volunteers of district level Child Welfare Committee in the effective implementation of the said Scheme as well as to ensure rights of the child, including the right to nutritious food, are protected.
Satyabati also sought cooperation of all in protecting and ensuring rights of the children.
Convenor of event host K Pradipkumar and the sponsor's Senior Manager Ashim Ghosh also addressed the gathering.
Children teams/troupes from Ukhrul, churachandpur, Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal and Bishnupur districts took part at the festival.
