Bishnupur, February 20 2020: Manipur Inner Lok Sabha MP Dr RK Ranjan has opined that the true spirit of a democracy will be attained only when the people are able to enjoy their rights.

He made the statement during a Meet our MP function event which was organised by ex-BJP candidate Pukhrambam Kumarjit Singh at Ningthoukhong Awang Pukhri Achouba Mapal community hall today.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ranjan said that the responsibilities of an MP include improving the lives of the people, ensuring peace and prosperity for all.

However, only Rs 5 crore is supplied for MP Development Fund and it is a very difficult task to manage this low amount for bringing development to 32 Kendras.

The same amount (Rs 5 crore) is provided for the Local MLA Development Fund and as such, the MLAs will find it easier to manage the resources for developing their respective Kendra, he added.

On the other hand, he contended that even though the Opposition parties dubbed the recent Budget as being anti-people, it is being hailed by the World Bank as a budget which is aimed at developing the Nation.

He said that the argument by Opposition parties that foreign investment will lead to negative impact for the economy, is completely devoid of logic.

Foreign investment will result in more jobs and employment for the youth of the Nation.

The BJP is working tirelessly to bring all round development for the people and it is the duty of all to strengthen the party to ensure that the country advances further by leaps and bounds, Ranjan concluded.

Speaking at the gathering, P Kumarjit alleged that the Congress and other parties which are opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), in fact, do not possess proper knowledge about the Act.

CAA does not impact the people of the country in anyway.

Moreover, it is interesting to note that the Bill (now an Act) came up during the time of the Congress party and now, when the BJP turned it into an Act, the Opposition parties are raising a hue and cry against it, he added.

What the Congress failed to do in 60/70 years was achieved by the Modi led BJP Government within a short time and this is the reason why the people have faith in the BJP, he conveyed.

Labelling the Congress as a political party filled with liars, he said that the Congress is nearing its demise and appealed to all to extend support to the BJP.

Nachou Zilla Parishad Member Th Dilip Meitei, village elder P Rambabu and various BJP workers and officials from Bishnupur were also present at the event.
