SPIO/ Director of (SCERT) directed to appear before MIC

Manipur Information Commission has directed the State Public Information Officer (SPIO)/Director of SCERT to appear before the Commission on February 29 for necessary hearing in connection with an RTI which was filed seeking information concerning DIET centres in Manipur.
One Th Sanjit had filed an RTI before the SPIO/Director of SCERT, seeking information like names and number of DIET centres in Manipur as well as information about the year of establishment of each centre, amounts sanctioned etc.
The RTI also sought details about the total number of students enrolled for admission year wise and centre wise from the beginning of each DIET centres and Actual Payment of Receipt (APR) and Utilization Certificates.
During the hearing today, Manipur Information Commission hearing the First appellant authority (FAA) was represented by RK Kamal, OSD legal, while the SPIO was represented by Jim G, Joint Director (SCERT).
The appellant submitted before the Commission that the SPIO had failed to allow inspection of the sought records repeatedly.
He claimed that an inspection which was fixed at 2 pm of February 5, failed, as the SPIO was absent without giving any reason.
The appellant further pressed for giving accurate reasons, with documents, for not allowing the inspection by the SPIO.
On the other hand, the representative of SPIO contended that the inspection was not done on February 5 as the SPIO was engaged in the works concerning preparation for the ongoing Assembly Sessions and Financial Year.
After hearing both sides, the SPIO / Director of SCERT was asked to appear before the Commission on February 29 for the next hearing.
