Ukhrul ADC member inaugurates Luita Phanit

A four-day seed sowing festival of Pushing village Luita Phanit was today inaugurated by Ukhrul ADC member Yangmi Shimray at the village ground.
The headman of Pushing village, AS Yanglung invoked a traditional ritual and pronounced special prayer for villagers for a bountiful harvest.
Subsequently, the headman also distributed preserve paddy seeds to every family to mark the beginning of the agricultural activities of the year.
Yangmi Shimray, who attended the programme as chief guest, said that Luita festival is a time to rejoice and exalt the almighty for a bountiful harvest.
Youngster must uphold and preserve this beautiful custom, he urged adding that seed sowing festival is widely observed by the Nagas in Manipur to invoke the blessing of God.
The annual festival is also held to ward off other elements that destroy crops, he added.
Saying that the festival also signifies sowing the seeds of love to bring unity among all communities, Yangmi Shimray continued that love is the only way to bring peace and development in the society.
The visiting Ukhrul ADC member donated financial assistance for village, Church, women society, student union.
Table lamps and blankets were also distributed to the village elders.
