Hepatitis treatment centre opened at District Hospital, Senapati

For prevention and control of the viral disease, a treatment centre for hepatitis has been opened at District Hospital, Senapati under the aegis of National Viral Hepatitis Control Program (NVHCP) .
The centre was inaugurated by Somorjit Salam, DC Senapati as the chief guest in the presence of Dr H Loli Mao, CMO, Senapati and Dr RK Rosie, State Nodal Officer, NVHCP.
Dr N Dihe, Medical Superintendent, DHS gave the welcome note while Dr H Loli Mao deliberated on the various steps taken up by the District Health Society to control hepatitis B.On the occasion, Dr RK Rosie stated that hepatitis B is an infectious liver disease caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV).
Saying that hepatitis B virus is spread when blood or other body fluid infected with the hepatitis B virus enters the body of a person who is not infected, she added that apart from vaccination, washing hands thoroughly and avoiding direct contact with blood and bodily fluids could stop spread of hepatitis B .
Speaking as the chief guest, Somorjit Salam lauded Health Department for opening different new centres in the hospital including dialysis unit, daycare chemotherapy centre, palliative ward and hepatitis control centre.
The district had won different awards on many accounts in the past, he said and expressed gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, medical staffs including the ASHA workers for providing basic health care facilities to the people of the district.
Hepatitis refers to an inflammatory condition of the liver.
It's commonly caused by a viral infection, but there are other possible causes of hepatitis.
These include autoimmune hepatitis and hepatitis that occurs as a secondary result of medications, drugs, toxins, and alcohol.
