Imphal, April 06 2011:
Militants are not sparing even former leaders from extortion demands as police said that the recent failed bomb attack on the house of former chairman of the PULF was related with a monetary demand.
Former chairman of the PULF, MI Khan @ Islamuddin recently retired from the banned outfit.
Police say that MI Khan received a demand letter of ' 50 lakh from the Administrative Cell of PULF on March 27, 2011 .
The letter threatened him and his family of dire consequences if the amount, ' 50 lakh, was not paid to the outfit on or before March 31, 2011.MI Khan admitted receiving the letter.
Police suspect PULF militants to have delivered the demand letter to the former chairman even though the failed attack is yet to be owned up by any group.
