Save Loktak call goes musical

Comprising of musicians, singers and various individuals from diverse fields, a 32 member state delegation would embark on a musical tour to New Delhi and Bangalore on 'Save Loktak Our Life' theme.
speaking to newspersons at Classic Hotel today, co-convenor (Music Campaign) of Tamna Sanggai Recording Palace Imomcha Heisnam said the tour to the cosmopolitan cities is a part of Tamna Sanggai's endeavour in the past few years to spread the message for preserving the largest natural lake of the region.
Informing that the musical campaign with kick start on April 9 in New Delhi followed by the Bangalore gig on April 16, Imomcha said the team will be flagged off by Tourism Minister TN Haokip tomorrow.
Highlighting that since 1999 artistes under the aegis of Tamna had been carrying out awareness campaigns on the importance of saving the lake through music in various parts of the State, he said decision to sustain the campaign in other parts of the country was to involve Manipuris staying outside in the mission as well as spread the message throughout the country.
Having eminent personalities of the State in its fold including Padmashree Aribam Syam Sharma as its advisor, Tamna will launch North East chapter of the campaign from September, he said.
Joining the media briefing popular singer Ranbir Thouna, who is the Project Director of Tamna, said the campaign was undertaken under the vision of the organisation to contribute its mite in saving the Lake from possible extinction.
He also informed that the organisation involves environmentalists, social workers, politicians and police officers.
