Imphal, July 02 2021:
Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam has strongly condemned the act of politicising the Covid-19 pandemic by some individuals and appealed to all to help the needy during this crisis period while leaving behind political vendetta.
Speaking to media on Friday, Karam Shyam informed that he has been providing assistance to families of his constituency affected by the pandemic since the first wave.
He ensured that every family in the constituency received their share of essential items and also opened quarantine centre by spending Rs 70 lakh from his local area development fund and with contributions made by the public.
However, such activities and contributions to the needy people were not publicised through media and as a result, some have started to query if he has not done anything for the crisis affected people, noted the MLA.
Further stating that during the second wave, he opened CHIC at Standard Robarth School and provided all requirements including foods to the inmates apart from providing food items to 883 families in containment zones, Shyam said he will also start extending assistance to around 12,000 families in the entire Langthabal assembly constituency, who are facing hardships due to the pandemic.
Vaccination is gaining momentum in the constituency under his supervision and now he is focusing on ensuring proper irrigation to agricultural fields so that farmers of his constituency do not face any difficulties, he said and also urged officials concerned to take up necessary measures to make the sluice gates of Imphal Barrage fully functional.
