Writers' award presented

Three writers were honoured today with the Pacha Meetei Literary award, R Kathing Tangkhul Literary award and Dr Saroj Nalini Arambam Literary award during a function at Manipur Press Club organised by Patriotic Writers' Forum.
Writers Gunindro Khangembam, Lenin Khumancha and Raju Maibam (Assam) were presented the Pacha Meetei Literary award, R Kathing Tangkhul Literary award and Dr Saroj Nalini Arambam Literary award respectively.
Chief guest of the function RV Mingthing, ex-Minister said that the land is first come to be known as Manipur in the 18th century.
Culture and identity of the people of the land experienced a sea change with the onslaught of Hinduism.
Mingthing urged all concerned to reconnect and strengthen the seemingly strain relationships between Meetei and Tangkhul communities, who are said to have shared close ethnic affinities.
The programme was attended by Sagolshem Indrakumar as the guest of honour while Rakesh Naorem, general secretary of the Forum delivered the keynote address.
Five books written by different writers like Ngathem Rabeichandra, Naoroibam Khamba Luwang, Yumnam Devajani Devi, AK Gyaneshori and Prof L Ranjit were released on the occasion.
Biannual publication of the forum edited by S Lakpati Mangang was also released.
