Ukhrul, August 29 2015 :
Although losing the sole bread winner of the family makes life harder, the fact that her son was a 'martyr' makes Ningshemla a proud mother.
Ramkasing Vashi and Mayopam Ramror lost their lives in the course of a protest on Aug 30 last year at Ukhrul demanding revocation of 144 CrPC, withdrawal of police commandos, restoration of NSCN-IM's WTR liaison office at Ukhrul and unconditional release of arrested NSCN-IM cadres.
Various leaders of Naga bodies started thronging Ukhrul from today to observe the first martyrdom anniversary of Ramkasing Vashi and Mayopam Ramror tomorrow.
Mother of Ramkashing Vashi, Ningsemla said she holds no grudges against anyone although she is not consulted or informed about anniversary observance tomorrow.
She rather urged the frontal organisations to honour the two deceased in a fitting manner.
Ramkashing was the sole bread earner of the family.
His demise was an irreparable loss to the family.
Ningsemla took up weaving traditional shawl to meet the family's end.
But due to deteriorating health condition, she could not continue her occupation.
Although no assistance or compensation is given to the families, Ningsemla does not feel bad.
She hopes that the family will somehow survive by the grace of the Almighty.
Leaders of Naga frontal bodies like All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM), Naga Women's Union (NWU), NPMHR, CNPO, NPO, ZB have start-ed arriving at Ukhrul for the anniversary observance tomorrow.
Naga leaders from Naga-land are also expected to join the anniversary observance.
Two persons were killed allegedly in police firing as the peace rally organised under the aegis of the United Naga Council (UNC) turned violent at Ukhrul district headquarters on Aug 30 last year.
