Anal Lenruwl Tangpi (ALT) or the Anal Students Union (ASU) has expressed deep resentment over the "poor and fragile" educational system in the State run institutions and colleges in Chandel district.
In a press note, ALT president L Manahring said the student body is of the view that United College, Lambung, Chandel is reeling under severe shortage of lecturers.
While interacting with the Principal of the College, ALT found out that 34 lecturers had been transferred prematurely to valley based colleges with no replacements sent to the college so far.
It has been almost a year since the mass transfers took place, said ALT.
The student body said the college is struggling to cope up with the present embarrassing situation as proper teaching could not be conducted due to insufficient number of course-wise teachers.
This prevailing situation has endangered the lives of hundreds of college students who are taking risks with their educational careers, said ALT.
ALT also pointed out that Maha Union Higher Secondary School and Chakpikarong Government Higher Secondary School are also facing shortage of teaching faculty.
The union claimed that several appeals had been made to the Government to look into the problem and initiate positive steps so as to ensure efficient learning environment, considering the fact that children's education was at stake.
With no positive response, ALT has now appealed to Minister of Education and Education Department (both E & U) to immediately depute sufficient lecturers to the schools/college in Chandel.
The union warned that if the Government fails to respond to the ALT's clarion call, it will be compelled to launch a serious of agitations.
Meanwhile, ALT expressed dismay with the prolonged neglect of the District Library in Panchai village.
Pointing out the pathetic and dilapidated condition of the library, ALT reminded that a library plays pivotal role in providing first hand information to the public.
The union urged the responsible authority to ensure immediate action.
