Shija hospital
Paediatrics and Neonatalogy Department of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute Pvt Ltd has been inaugurated today.
Advisor to Government of Manipur, Dr RK Nimai, former HOD of RIMS Paediatrics Department Prof P Ibomacha and Shija hospital chairman cum managing director Dr Kh Palin graced the inauguration function as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
Koirou bodies ban

PREPAK cadre arrested
Troops of 12 Bihar Battalion of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (South) apprehended one PREPAK cadre from Langjing yesterday.
He has been identified as Meisnam Ramananda (37) s/o Naran of Sagolband Bijoygovinda.
He has been handed over to Patsoi police station, said a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S) .
Boat service launched
The recent spate of heavy rains and subsequent washing away of two bridges built over Manipur river on August 1 had resulted to cutting off of all the villages located to the South of Singheu in Churachandpur district from the rest of the State.
21 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector AR under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (S) has been operating a boat service across the river to help civil population since August 12, said a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S) .
AR helps war veterans
26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (S) is at the forefront in providing all possible facilities to the Ex-Servicemen and war veterans, a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S) has claimed.
The Sector headquarters has provided LPG connections to 100 Ex-Servicemen and war veterans and another 300 applications are being processed.
The veterans now need not to wait for long durations and they get the filled cylinders within 24 hours of their demand, added the press release.
VA thanks Parliamentary Secy
The Kasom Khullen Village Authority has extended heartfelt gratitude to the Parliamentary Secretary of TA&Hills/IT Victor Keishing for providing rice and medicines to the landslide hit villagers of Kasom Khullen.
Through his initiative, road clearance in Imphal to Kasom portion are nearing completion, a statement issued by Kasom Khullen Village Authority chief said.
It also further extended gratitude to ABCI workers for their tireless effort and assistance in transporting basic needs to the villagers.
Felicitation programme held
Gamnom Sapormeina held a felicitation cum thanksgiving gathering for Kimneilhing Mercy Haokip for becoming Lieutenant in Military Nursing Service today, our correspondent reports.
Kimneilhing Mercy Haokip is the fourth daughter of Lunthang Haokip, Member of ADC, Sadar Hills.
The felicitation and thanksgiving gathering was attended by various local church leaders, chiefs, local civil society organizations and others.
Tree plantation drive
Central Forest Division and residents of AG colony, Lamphelpat planted about 230 saplings inside the residential campus of Accountant General, Manipur at Lamphelpat.
L Joykumar Singh, Divisional Forest Officer, Central Division, L Mawia, Sr AO, PS Chakraborty, AO and General Secretary, AGERWAM, S Ratankumar Singh, Range Officer, Sadar West and officers and staff of the colony participated in the plantation.
DFO, Central said that there is a need to plant trees at every space available to increase the forest area of the state for which participation of every section of society is required.
ATUM acknowledges
The Aimol Tribe Union, Manipur (ATUM) has expressed gratitude to the State Govt for providing security to Aimol villagers aftermath the killing of Walunglua of Aimol Ngairong.
In a statement, RT Akhel, president of ATUM said some elements under the leadership of Munthuireng Naga are making subversive plan to disrupt peace soon after the security deployed in the area is withdrawn.
It urged the Govt to safeguard the Aimols who are trying to maintain their identity.
ATUM also acknowledged the moral supports extended to the Aimol people by various civil society organisations of the State.
TRI invites
Tribal Research Institute, Manipur is extending monetary assistance for the financial year 2015-2016 to tribal societies/organisations for the purpose of organising seminars or workshops under different topics.
Bona fide tribal societies/organisations may apply in order to avail the financial grant from the institute, said a statement issued by the Joint Director, Tribal Research Institute.
Last date of submission of application will be on September 10 .
AMCTA urges
The All Manipur College Teachers' Association (AMCTA) has appealed to the authority concerned to facilitate reopening of classes as the demands raised by the public have been met by the Govt.AMCTA held a meeting today to discuss the prevailing situation.
In a statement, the association said that the date for AMCTA 50th anniversary celebration would be announced soon.
The college teachers' body also decided to support the nationwide strike sponsored by Central Trade Unions on Sept 2 .
Dealers' workshop
Dept of Taxes, Govt of Manipur organised a dealers' workshop cum awareness programme on data cleansing for implementation of GST at Yaiphaba Hotel, Thangal bazar today.
Assistant Commissioner of Taxes, RK Khurkishore and system analyst of NIC, Dhaneshore and various dealers of the State attended the programme.
State GST Nodal officer Y Indramani delivered a speech on GST and its implementation.

One-day discussion session held
A one-day Plenary Plenum on the topic 'Deprivation of free and compulsory education in the district by politicization and commercialization in implementation of SSA/RTE act', was held today at TTA hall, Ukhrul under the aegis of SMDC, Ukhrul, Mungchan Zimik reports.
Panellists in the session deliberated on the financial management and framework of implementation of SSA/RTE at Ukhrul district.
Tree plantation drive held
Chandel Range Office, Tengnoupal Forest Division conducted a tree plantation campaign at Jawahar Novodaya Vidyalaya, Chandel campus today, our correspondent reports.
Led by Forest Officer, Chandel Range Sh Tomba Sharma; Chakpikarong Range Forest Officer S Dhana Singh and JNV, Chandel Principal Salam Sanamacha Singh, students and staff of JNV, Chandel planted saplings in the school campus today.
Similar campaigns were also held at Pallel High School and St Paul High School under the aegis of the Tengnoupal Range Forest Office and Moreh Range Forest Office respectively.
Woman found death
A young housewife was found hung to death inside a rented room at Babupara today morning around 8.20 .
According to a source, the deceased has been identified as Pritima Das (23) w/o Sushankar Das of Dharmnagar, Tripura at present staying at a rented room in Babupara.
A post mortem examination on the body was conducted at RIMS today.
Moreh bandh suspended
The JAC of Imphal-Moreh Road Transporters' Association has suspended the Imphal-Moreh indefinite bandh from today till Sept 10 .
According to a statement, the bandh was suspended following an assurance given by the DC and SP of Chandel during a meeting with the JAC representatives today at Pallel PS.
The JAC regretted the inconveniences caused to the public due to the bandh.
