Kangpokpi, October 30 2015 :
The Joint Action Committee against the killings of Khupneilal Neihsiel and Robert Hesei Kipgen has temporarily suspended its proposed 20 days economic blockade today.
The JAC had earlier decided to impose a 20 day economic blockade from midnight of November 3 against the failure and stubbornness of the State Government to table the magisterial probe report of the killings.
The JAC's decision to suspend the proposed stir came after a meeting with the State Government today at the Chief Minister's office chamber from 2.30 pm till 4 pm.
The meeting was attended by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip, DC Imphal West and SP Imphal on the Government side while the JAC delegates included Thangminlen Haokip, convener; Lunmang Kipgen, co-convener; Thangminlen Kipgen, president, KSO, Sadar Hills and 3 other members.
Convener of the JAC Thangminlen Haokip said that during the meeting the Chief Minister disclosed that one forensic investigation is still pending at Kolkata due to which further process could not be initiated in the magisterial probe.
He continued that Chief Minister Ibobi also assured to table the magisterial probe report as soon as the pending forensic investigation report reaches the Government and appealed the JAC to withdraw its proposed stir.
"Though we are not satisfied with the Government's tardy response towards the JAC's steadfast stand on the issue we have decided to give another 15 days time to table the magisterial probe report considering the Chief Minister's appeal today at the meeting" said the JAC convener.
However, the suspended economic blockade will resume automatically if the State Government fails to table the magisterial probe within 15 days, warned JAC convener.
Thangminlen Haokip also appealed all Kuki CSOs and the general public to wait for another 15 days for the Government to table the probe report.
He further urged to them to extend support to the movement of the JAC.
