Imphal, November 09 2016:
Chakpa Phayeng village has categorically stated that not an inch of their area should be amalgamated into Sadar Hills as and when it is upgraded as a full fledged district.
A public meeting cum protest demonstration was held today at Phayeng.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the protest demonstration, Phayeng Chakpa Khullakpa Ningthou jam Toyai said that the area now covered by Phayeng village was given to then Khullakpa in 1932 by an order of the Manipur State Durbar.
Phayeng village is surrounded by Maklang on the North, Arong Nunglok on the South, paddy fields on the East and hills on the West.
Kukis set up their villages in the surrounding area of Phayeng very lately.
Any attempt to amalgamate even in inch of Phayeng area into Sadar Hills district would be opposed tooth and nail.
Phayeng Gram Panchayat Pradhan Angom Gojendro said that Sadar Hills district should not affect any area of Kangchup, Koutruk, Phayeng and Tairenpokpi for all these villages belong to Imphal West-I .
He then rubbished the claim of KSO Sadar Hills that the area offered by Koutruk and two adjoining villages belongs to Sadar Hills as baseless.
Chakpa Phayeng Semgatpa Lup spokesman Angom Iraijao said that the area given to the Phayeng Khullakpa by an order of the Manipur State Durbar in 1932 is 1108.5 acres.
The claim that K Phaizol village has completed 50 years is not true.
The village was not listed in the State gazette published in 1984 .
The claim of KSO Sadar Hills that the area offered by Koutruk and two adjoining villages belongs to Sadar Hills was baseless though highly provocative.
A similar situation prevails in Langol Hills which is surrounded by Imphal West district and Nongmaiching Hills which is surrounded by Imphal East district.
The State Govt should first demarcate district boundaries without leaving any room for ambiguity before Sadar Hills is declared as a full fledged district, Iraijao added.
