Couple injured, shop gutted

Imphal, November 09 2016:
A couple sustained injuries while two shops were reduced to ashes when an accidental fire broke out at Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai at around 12.30 pm today.
It was suspected that the fire broke out from electric short-circuit.
The wounded couple have been identified as Saikhom Dhananjoy alias Appak (45) of Singjamei Oinam Thingel and his wife Saikhom (O) Shakila (40).While their fermented and dry fish (Ngari) shop was completely reduced to cinders, Shakila suffered 80 per cent burn injuries.

She is undergoing treatment at Shija Hospital in critical condition where her husband is also undergoing treatment.
The raging fire also destroyed an adjoining stationery shop and it was run by one Khangenbam Noni Kumar (36) of Singjamei Wangma Kshetri Leikai.
With the arrival of fire tenders, the raging fire was somehow brought under control before it spread other structures.
It was speculated that goods several lakhs were destroyed by the raging fire.
