Swasth Bharat Yatra reaches Kangpokpi, held 'eat right' rally

Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's Dandi March and 'Salt Satyagraha' of 1930, the Swasth Bharat Yatra, a Pan India Cycle rally of Agartala track reached Kangpokpi today.
The cyclothon team cycled their way through from state capital Imphal via Jiribam, Tamenglong and Noney and reached Kangpokpi this morning where Dr Rangitabali Waikhom DC Kangpokpi in the presence of ADC Sadar Hills Chairman, Haokholal Hangshing received the team with warm welcome.
A rally under 'Eat Right India' was flagged off by ADC Sadar Hills Chairman, Haokholal Hangshing and moved towards Kangpokpi town and retracted back to DC Office.
Student community from various educational institutions in Kangpokpi DHQs participated in the rally apart from the cyclists.
The rallyist shouted slogan, "Eat Right India", "Eat Healthy India", etc during the rally.
SP Kangpokpi provided security to the rallyist and the cyclists while the District Administration arranged food and lodging for the Cyclothon team who will leave for Manipur-Nagaland border Mao tomorrow morning.
A simple reception function was also organized at Multi-purpose Hall, DC Office where interaction and promotion of eating right and healthy was held in the presence of all dignitaries.
A threadbare demonstration using screen display about the National campaign Swasth Bharat Yatra was conducted after the dignitaries lit the reception candle while a short quiz competition on the national campaign was also conducted during the interaction programme.
The national campaign 'Swasth Bharat Yatra' was launched on World Food Day on October 16 to sensitize people about eating safe food and be healthy.
The campaign has been launched in association with states and led by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
Under it, pan-India cycle rally is being organized to create consumer awareness about eating safe and nutritious food for becoming healthy and combating food adulteration.
In the rally, about 7,500 cyclists participated and aim to travel more than 18,000 km across six tracks through almost every state and Union Territories over a period of 100 days to propagate a powerful message 'Eat Right India' .
The cyclothon will culminate in the national capital on January 27, 2019.This campaign will not only mobilize the masses but also create large pool of local community to sustain this movement.
