Ukhrul, July 01 2015 :
BJP, Kisan Morcha, 45/AC Chingai Mandal today said that the State Governor alone has the authority to nominate the ADC members in each District Council Constituency.
The statement said that tussle among the political parties to nominate the ADC members has delayed the oath taking ceremony of the elected ADC members.
According to the Manipur (Hill Areas) District Council Act, 1971, there is a clear indication that the 'Administrator', meaning the Governor of the State, has the full authority to nominate the two ADC Members.
Such provision does not signify any connotation nor does it imply the Governor to seek assistance or advice from the State Government, the statement added.
Maintaining that the parties which gained majority in the recent ADC election have no right to nominate the ADC members, the statement affirmed that the Governor who has the absolute right should nominate the Members.
