Gangmumei appointed NEC member

The ministry of development of North Eastern Region notified that Professor Gangmumei Kamei, Professor of History (Retired), Manipur University and Chandra Kanta Das, IAS (Retired) have been appointed as non-official full-time members to the North East Council (NEC).
This newspaper had published the scoop in this regard.In a notification issued by Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DONER), New Delhi Secretary R Vijaykumar and forwarded by NEC Director K Guite, the tenure of the two members will be for a period of three years from the date of notification or until further orders, whichever is earlier, with headquarters at NEC Secretariat, Shillong.
Meanwhile an exclusive interview with the Hueiyen Lanpao reporter with professor Gangmumei he extended his gratitude to the prime minister of India Narendra Modi and DONER Minister Jitendra Singh for the appointment as NEC member.
Professor Gangmumei said he will sincerely work for the development of the North East.
On being asked why did he not want to choose the governor of the state he said, "I still wanted to work with the people and know their grievances of the public and I did not go far away from my People" .
