Imphal, July 01 2015 :
Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) on Wednesday protested against the State Government's failure to react to the false claim of the Nagaland Board of Education saying that Siroi Lily is found only in Nagaland.
This was claimed in the text books of classes nine and ten.
The students of TG Higher Secondary School, Johnstone Higher Secondary School, Ibotonsana Higher Secondary School, Model Higher Secondary School and Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary School protested by wear ing black badge in the schools.
The black badgeshad slogans said "Siroi Lily the State Flower of Manipur, we condemn the Nagaland Board of School Education for misguiding the students" .
Speaking to the media persons at TG Higher Secondary School, KSA general secretary S Bidyananda said that the Class IX and Class X textbooks prescribed by Nagaland Board has mentioned that Siroi Lilies are found only in the 'Siroi Mountains of Nagaland State', which is totally false and misleading the public.
After finding out the discrepancy, the association demanded the Manipur Chief Minister, Education Minister, Forest Minister and the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) to take up corrective measures at the earliest by contacting their counterparts in Nagaland.
The association has already submitted the memorandum to the authorities on June 8 to take up necessary actions within 10 days, but still the state government failed to do anything.
Bidyananda said "If the State Government still shows its negligence on this matter, KSA will launch further drastic actions" .
KSA further appealed to the Government and all members of the House to bring out this matter and discuss it during the ongoing session of Manipur Legislative Assembly.
