Accused house ransacked, JAC serves ultimatum Man succumbs, nephew in 'hiding'

Khulem Krishnamohan (50) s/o (L) Jugeshwor of Naoremthong Khulem Leikai, who was critically injured when his nephew Khulem Jiten (38) opened fire on him and his brother Khulem Priyobarta (55) yesterday, succumbed to his injury today morning.
Following the death of Krishnamohan, irate locals dismantled Jiten's house and blocked Uripok-Kangchup road from Laishram Leirak to Thoudam Leirak.
They also burnt down one Mahindra Scorpio SUV, one Mahindra Duro two-wheeler and one power generator set belonging to Jiten's family.
At around 3 pm yesterday, Khulem Jiten allegedly beat up his father Kendrajit following an altercation at their house.
Krishnamohan and Priyobarta who went to the house to intervene were chased by Jiten and shot at.
They were grievously injured.
Krishnamohon who received two bullet injuries on his abdomen was rushed to Shija hospital along with Priyobarta who was hurt on his left shoulder.
After fighting for his life for some hours in the private hospital, Krishnamohon succumbed to his injuries this morning.

After getting the tragic news, the JAC formed in connection with the incident and local meira paibis blocked Uripok-Kangchup road and staged a sit-in-protest demanding the authority to nab the alleged killer and punish him befittingly at the earliest.
Later, the JAC banished the family of Jiten from Naoremthong Khulem Leikai.
JAC co-convenor Alex said that nobody must provide any help and support to Jiten and his family.
No movable and immovable property of the family must be sold or purchased without due consent of the JAC and locals, Alex said.
Krishnamohon's body would not be claimed until Jiten's arrest, he said.
Alex said that the Government must look into the process of issuing arms licence to the public.
Saying that sale of intoxicants is now banned in the locality, Alex said that those who defy this prohibition must be responsible for any eventuality.
Till the time of filing this report, Jiten was still absconding.
Police have recovered a double barrel gun along with three live rounds and two bayonets from Jiten's house.
Krishnamohon's wife Khulem (o) Bijayani said that her husband's killer must not be given shelter anywhere.
She also demanded that Jiten be arrested immediately and punished accordingly.
