Chief Minister O Ibobi has assured to take up fitting action against an Indian Forest Service officer, AC Srivastava, who remained absent from duty for six years after joining service as DFO, Forest Dept, Manipur, after a departmental enquiry.
Replying to a call attention motion moved by MLA I Ibohalbi today, Chief Minister O Ibobi informed the House that fitting action would be taken against AC Srivastava, IFoS of Manipur-Tripura cadre (1987) who joined service as DFO in 1989 after initiating a departmental probe against the officer.
Moving the call attention motion, Opposition member Dr I Ibohalbi said that the IFoS officer had gone on deputation to the Ministry of Rural Development, Govt of India in January 1994 .
After the expiry of the deputation period, an intimation was sent to the officer to return to the State Forest Dept on February 26, 2001 .
Instead of returning to the State, the officer took over as Project Director of Small Farmer Agro Consortium, New Delhi on deputation on Feb 27, 2001, Dr Ibohalbi said.
Srivastava later served as the private secretary to a Union Minister from 2002 till Dec 27, 2004 .
He remained absent in the State for many years.
Replying to the motion, CM O Ibobi said that Srivastava returned to the State Govt in September 2014 after remaining absent for a long period.
The State Govt has not given its assent for his rejoining or promoting the officer, the CM said.
Although it is practicle to constitute a House Committee to conduct an enquiry against the officer, the Department concerned should be entrusted to conduct the enquiry and take up necessary action, the CM said.
