One killed in factional fight

Jiribam, January 15 2014 :
A cadre of UTLA was killed and three others injured in an attack by a rival faction in between Leingang-pokpi and Phaital here this af- ternoon.
UTLA (SK Thadou) chairman SK Thadou and six others were moving from Jiri-bam in a car this afternoon.
As the car slowed down to negotiate a curve, unidentified armed persons suspected to be cadres of the rival UTLA (Robert Singson), let loose a volley of gunfire at around 2 pm.
One cadre of UTLA (SK Thadou) was killed in the attack while SK Thadou and two others escaped with injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Kaikhulun (27) of Lalpani, Cachar.
The other injured cadres are Jetli alias Boysing (15) of Churachandpur and Ngam-jang (17) of Ahthibung, Nagaland.
three other companions who were not hurt ran away from the ambush site and returned with weapons and other cadres to rescue their injured comrades.
But Jiribam police and commandos were already there when they reached the ambush site.
They were overpowered and arrested along with
the weapons.
After first aid at Jiribam CHC, SK Thadou and two injured cadres were taken to Silchar Medical College for further treatment.
Incidentally, UTLA (SK Thadou) is a signatory of SoO pact while UTLA (Robert Singson is not a party to any such pact.
UG activist held: troops of 18 Sikh of 9 Sector AR launched operation at Upokpi area of Imphal West district and arrested one PREPAK OGW on Jan 14, said a PRO IGAR (S) release identifying the captive as Huidrom Deban alias Yambung (45) s/o (L) Ibotombi of Upokpi Mamang Leikai.
A pistol with magazine and two live rounds of 9mm were recovered from Deban, who alongwith the recovered items has been handed over to Wangoi PS.
