Imphal, January 15 2014 :
Barring Congress and BJP, different political parties have been negotiating amongst themselves to field common candidate and fight the forthcoming Lok Sabha election collectively, according to Janata Dal (United) State unit president M Tombi.
Speaking to media persons at their Babupara office today, Tombi said that JD (U) has been working as a front runner in the search for a common candidate.
In case other parties opt to field their own candidates, JD (U) too would go alone and fight the Lok Sabha election on its own.
Notably, both Congress and BJP have already declared that they would put up candidates in both Inner Manipur P/C and Outer Manipur P/C while CPI has announced to contest the Lok Sabha election in Inner Manipur P/C .
Claiming that three persons have approached JD (U) to fight the Lok Sabha election on the party's ticket, Tombi made it clear that JD (U) would not field any candidate in Outer Manipur P/C. He further appealed to all political parties to concentrate on finding common candidate in the interest of the State instead of working to field their own candidates.
Whereas BJP has been making tall claims, Congress has been maintaining complete silence without paying any heed.
Both the parties are overlooking people's misery caused by uncontrolled hike in the prices of essential commodities.
The Government too is unable to control prices of essential commodities, Tombi said.
Informing that JD (U) has opened a separate cell in the party office to look into complaints and appeals of disabled persons, Tombi said that Md Abdul Hakim has been appoint-ed advisor of the new cell.
He also urged the State Government to repair Makru bridge of Imphal-Jiribam highway as a matter of urgency.
