Farmers' trainings in Senapati district

A one-day farmers' training programme on INM/APM of Rabi crops was conducted on January 14 at Maohing Kuki village of T Waichong block in Senapati district under the Agriculture Technology Management Agency Programme (Senapati), informed a statement issued by Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Saikul Th Joykumar Singh.
Deputy Project Director (ATMA, Senapati) A Sanatombi Devi, Paothang Haokip of Maohing Kuki village and Th Joykumar graced the inauguration session of the training programme as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
As the resource persons, Directorate of Agriculture's Plant Health Clinic in-charge Kh Nimaichand Singh, Deputy Project director (ATMA, Thoubal) L Sanatomba Singh, BTM (Kangpokpi) Reema Devi Hemam and EO (Agri, Senapati) M Goura Singh prevailed upon the farmers to adopt scientific methods of cultivation for producing more yield, added the statement.
Meanwhile, a one-day farmers' training programme on improved method of rabi crop production was held today at St Francis Del Sales School, Dailii village in Senapati district under the aegis of Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Kangpokpi.
N Ratankumar, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer, Kangpokpi; Laltinmang Doungel, Convenor and two experts namely Reena Devi Hemam, BTM, Kangpokpi and Kh Nimaichand of Plant Health Clinic, Sanjenthong trained the farmers during the programme.
Saying that chemical fertilisers are harmful to human health, Reena Hemam stressed the need to use plant extracts instead of relying on chemical fertilisers.
Kh Nimaichand spoke on method of potato cultivation in Dailii area.
A total of 85 farmers from three neighbouring villages participated in the training programme.
