Team leaves for Myanmar

A 35-member cultural delegation left for Myanmar for an eight-day cultural exchange programme with Commissioner (Art & Culture) Dr RK Nimai Singh flagging off the tour team from Palace compound office premises of Art and Culture Department.
In his brief comment at the flag-off ceremony, Dr RK Nimai said the cultural exchange programme in Myanmar is part of the ongoing endeavour to sustain cordial relationship with the international neighbour.
During the eight-day tour, the Manipur delegation, comprising of both officials and artistes, different cultural programmes such as Basanta Raas, Maibi Jagoi, Leima Jagoi, Kabui dance, Khubak Eshei etc., would be staged at Mandalay and Monywa regions of Myanmar.
A photo exhibition depicting the State's cultural heritage and traditional practice would also be organised in Myanmar by the delegation, led by Joint Director of Art and culture S Bheigya Singh, informed the Commissioner.
It is said that visit by the Manipur cultural delegation is an outcome of the conversation between the Chief Ministers of Manipur and Myanmar's Mandalay and Monywa regions during the Manipur Sangai Festival.
The delegate members will also meet and interact with Manipuri expatriates in Myanmar besides exchanging goodwill with Myanmarese people.
