Laptops, white cane handed over to beneficiaries of Indus Tower Scholarship program

Imphal, September 13 2021:
Three laptops and one white cane were handed over to the beneficiaries of Indus Tower Scholarship program which is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Indus Tower implemented across the North East today.
The program has been initiated by Spastic Society Manipur in collaboration with Shishu Sarothi under Indus Towers Limited scholarship program.
The distribution program was held at the Tapokpi Bazar, Langthabal Kunja campus of Spastic Society today.
Laishram Ricky, secretary of Spastic Society while delivering the welcome speech, focused on the need for empowering Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) for an inclusive, equitable and sustainable development which is a part of the 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development.
The 2030 Agenda pledges to 'leave no one behind', he added.
He further stated that without education, there will be no development in the lives of PwDs and achieving the sustainable development goals will be hindered considerably.
Speaking on the occasion, Zonal Operation Manager of Indus Towers Limited, Manipur, Sorokhaibam Langam appreciated the efforts of Spastic Society towards empowerment of PwDs and also spoke about the scholarship program which is CSR initiative.
So far 260 students with disabilities from North East have been benefited by the program, he added.
It may be noted that Spastic Society of Manipur is a composite centre for empowerment of PwDs and Shishu Sarothi based in Guwahati is right based, non Government, Not-for-profit organization which offers a range of services for children with Physical and Developmental Disabilities.
