Imphal, September 13 2021:
Deputy commissioner of Imphal West Th Kirankumar has ordered that parking will only be allowed on one side of the road in a single row on the northern side for RIMS road and on the western side for Uripok-Canteen Road.
No function/programme of any kind blocking traffic flow partially or fully should be held along these roads and no earmarking of space in front of any establishments along the roads will be allowed leading to blocking and narrowing of road width, thereby affecting the traffic movement.
In an order issued on Monday, DC Kirankumar notified that these terms and conditions will come into force in the larger interest of the general public with effect from September 15 until further orders.
The decision was taken as it has come to the notice of district administration that due to huge traffic congestions mostly because of parking of vehicles on both sides of the roads namely, RIMS road (Nagamapal Junction to RIMS Junction) and Canteen Road (Uripok Junction to RIMS Junction) the travel time to hospital for ambulances, doctors, patient parties, and other people on emergency services has been greatly affected and golden hour for saving lives is being compromised, it mentioned.
The order noted that it is also well known that the said roads are used for emergency services 24X7 for movement to various hospitals including Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Shija Hospitals and Research Institute Pvt Ltd, Langol View Charitable Clinic and Maternity Home, Suba Hospital & Assisted Reproductive Centre, Sky Hospital and Research Centre, Imphal Hospital and Research Centre, etc.
