Imphal, September 13 2021:
All Manipur Trade Union Council (AMTUC) has urged authorities concerned to issue e-SHRAM Card for the workers in the unorganised sector so that they could obtain social security benefits.
In a statement, AITUC Unorganised Worker in-charge Ch Gyanen said that one of the laudable projects undertaken by the PM Modi-led government is the Ministry of Labour's continuous effort to issue e-SHRAM cards to unorganised workers by providing Universal Account Number (UAN) and help them avail benefits of social security.
AMTUC has worked hard to spread awareness about the various benefits launched by the central and state governments for the welfare of workers.
It also appealed to the state authority concerned to issue the said cards to Anganwadi and ASH A workers.
AMTUC then urged Anganwadi Workers to bring a fee of only Rs 20 and relevant identification papers including Aadhaar, Aadhaar linked mobile number, Blood Group house number, etc., to its office for immediate processing and issuance of e-SHRAM Card.
Meanwhile, a licensed vendor of the 4th Khwairamband market, while attending a programme held in this regard on Monday, said that although various welfare schemes have been launched, they are often not delivered to the deserving beneficiaries, particularly the workers.
The vendor then said that the state government should encourage AMTUC for helping the workers obtain social security benefits entitled to them, which the Labour Department has failed to do so.
Speaking on the occasion, Imphal West-II CD Block Unorganised Workers' Union executive member Nandeibam Binabon Singh informed that Anganwadi workers/helpers, who want to avail the benefits on sector basis, can contact AMTUC in-charge, following which AMTUC volunteers will assist in enrolment processes right at their respective places.
The programme was attended by AMTUC president T Tikendrajit Singh and Trained Nurses' Association of India, Manipur State advisor A Premkumar Singh.
