Thoubal, September 13 2021:
Barring minor ones taken up during the past four years, whatever infrastructure development projects that people of the state are witnessing today were all executed during the 15 years of Congress rule, claimed former chief minister and Thoubal MLA Okram Ibobi Singh.
Addressing a gathering during the foundation stone laying ceremony of an Eco Tourism Park at Thoubal Nongangkhong Chabanthabi on Monday, Ibobi said development projects during the 15 years of Congress rule were taken up at a very fast pace under his initiative as chief minister of the state.
It is up to people of the state to compare development during the Congress rule time with the four years of the present BJP-led government, he said.
Whatever development people of the state are witnessing today, be it electricity, hospital or in other sectors were all done by the previous Congress government, Ibobi said adding that there has been no significant project in Thoubal district during the past four years.
Regarding the Eco Tourism Park, he said the park is to be developed with Rs 50 lakh fund from the state's tourism department and Rs 20 lakh from his MLA Local Area Development Fund and appealed to the people residing around the park to support and extend help for early completion of the project.
The foundation stone laying ceremony organised by Chinga Lairembi Ecotour-ism Park Committee was also attended by Khangabok MLA O Surjakumar and many leaders of Thoubal.
